We build a calculator only when a university has released how the chance of an offer changes with test score. For Actuarial Science, LSE has released:

  • TMUA scores for 2025 entry only, for UK (Home) applicants: 46 applicants and 20 offer holders with a score, as score cut-offs for each fifth of each group
  • no offer rate at any TMUA score, and no count of applicants or offer holders at each score
  • a TMUA that is recommended and not compulsory, so only some applicants have a score: none of the Home applicants for 2022 and 2024 entry did, and 2 of 73 for 2023 entry
  • applications and offers for every year from 2018, and Home-only figures for 2022 to 2024 entry

Until LSE releases how offers vary by TMUA score, or scores for more than one year of entry, no one outside LSE can work out a chance of an offer from a TMUA score for this course. What LSE has released is below.

Every figure on this page is LSE's own, from its Planning Division dashboard and its replies to Freedom of Information requests.

LSE's dashboard counts applications to each programme, so the counts here are applications and an offer rate is offers per application. The replies count Home applicants with a decision or Home applicants, as each says.

What TMUA score do you need for LSE Actuarial Science?

UK offer holders with a TMUA score for 2025 entry scored from 3.1 to 5.0, with 20 people in the group.

For 2027 entry the UAT-UK course list gives the TMUA as recommended for Actuarial Science. The test is scored from 1.0 to 9.0.

Almost no UK applicant had a score until recently. Of the UK applicants LSE recorded a decision for, none had a score for 2022 entry (109 applicants) or 2024 entry (128), and 2 of 73 did for 2023 entry.

For 2025 entry, 46 UK applicants had a score and 20 UK offer holders had one. LSE gave the scores as cut-offs for each fifth of each group.

The 40th and 60th percentile offer-holder scores were 3.8 and 4.0. The highest offer-holder score was 5.0, below the highest applicant score of 7.0, so at least one applicant who scored above every offer holder did not hold an offer.

These are scores for 2025 entry, which run lower across LSE's courses than earlier years, so they should not be set beside scores from before 2025. LSE has released no offer rate at any score, and only some applicants sat the test.

For which LSE courses ask for the TMUA, see our LSE TMUA guide.

The two rates come from different counts: the UK figure counts applicants with an offer or a rejection recorded, and the all-applications figure is the dashboard's. We hold no split of the dashboard by fee status, so we cannot give an overseas rate.

Questions about LSE Actuarial Science admissions

What is the acceptance rate for LSE Actuarial Science?

For 2025 entry, 33.6% of applications got an offer (116 of 345). It was 26.2% for 2024 entry. The version with a placement year is counted separately: 17.9% for 2025 entry (32 of 179).

Is the TMUA compulsory for LSE Actuarial Science?

No. The UAT-UK course list gives it as recommended for 2027 entry. For 2025 entry, 46 UK applicants had a score and 20 UK offer holders did.

What TMUA score do I need for LSE Actuarial Science?

LSE has released no minimum and no offer rate by score. UK offer holders with a score for 2025 entry scored from 3.1 to 5.0, but scores for 2025 entry run lower than earlier years, and only some applicants sat the test.

Why is there no offer calculator for LSE Actuarial Science?

A calculator needs offer rates at each score. LSE has released the scores of UK applicants and offer holders for one year, as cut-offs for each fifth of each group, and no count at each score.

Do UK applicants have a better chance than overseas applicants?

UK applicants had a higher offer rate than all applications combined in 2022, 2023 and 2024 entry, for example 27.3% against 26.2% for 2024. We hold no overseas rate for this course, so the two groups cannot be compared directly.

Does LSE interview for Actuarial Science?

LSE's course page describes no interview. It says it considers your UCAS application: academic achievement, subjects, personal statement, reference and educational circumstances, plus the TMUA where you send one.
