LNAT 2027 dates: the short answer

For 2027 entry, LNAT testing runs from 1 September 2026.

Your last day to sit depends on the universities you apply to:

Testing opens1 September 2026
Oxford and CambridgeSit by 15 October 2026 (registration closed on 15 September)
KCL, LSE and UCLSit by 31 December 2026
Bristol and DurhamBook before 13 January, sit by 13 January 2027
Glasgow, SOAS and other universitiesBook before 20 January, sit by 25 January 2027
Fee£75 at UK and EU test centres, £120 elsewhere
BursaryCovers the whole fee for eligible UK and EU candidates
Your resultsMid-February 2027 if you sit by 26 January

From LNAT's dates and deadlines page, UCAS and university pages, checked 15 October 2026.

You can only sit the LNAT once per cycle, so if you apply to more than one LNAT university, the earliest of their deadlines is the one that counts.

Find every LNAT university you are applying to in the table below. Your deadline is the earliest date across all of them.

Here's how that breaks down:

From LNAT's dates and deadlines page, UCAS and each university's admissions pages, checked 15 October 2026.

Here is how that works in practice:

  1. Oxford or Cambridge plus anywhere else: you sit by 15 October, and that one score goes to all your LNAT universities.

  2. UCL, LSE or KCL plus Bristol or Durham: you sit by 31 December, because it comes first.

  3. Bristol or Durham plus Glasgow: you sit by 13 January, even though Glasgow alone would allow until 25 January.

The 2026-27 LNAT cycle, month by month

The whole cycle, from booking to results, runs for a year.

Here are the dates that matter for 2027 entry:

  • 1 August 2026 — LNAT registration and booking open
  • 1 September 2026 — Testing begins. A test taken before the summer holiday does not count
  • 15 September 2026 — Last day to register and book for Oxford and Cambridge (closed)
  • 15 October 2026 — Oxford and Cambridge applicants sit by today. UCAS deadline, 6pm
  • 21 October 2026 — Universities receive the first batch of scores and essays
  • 31 December 2026 — Last day to sit for KCL, LSE and UCL
  • 13 January 2027 — Last day to sit for Bristol and Durham. UCAS deadline for most courses, 6pm
  • 25 January 2027 — Last day to sit for Glasgow, SOAS and other universities
  • Mid-February 2027 — Results emailed to everyone who sat by 26 January
  • 31 July 2027 — Last day to sit in this cycle, for late applications only
  • Mid-August 2027 — Results emailed to anyone who sat after 26 January

From LNAT's dates and deadlines and results pages and UCAS, checked 15 October 2026.

After 21 October, universities see each new score within 24 hours of the test. You wait until February, so a university may contact you before you have seen your own score.

The full story of what that score means is in our guide to LNAT results and scores.

How to register and book the LNAT

Booking is done online, in four steps:

  1. Create an LNAT account through LNAT's registration page. Use your name exactly as it appears on the photo ID you will bring on the day, and an email address you check: your results go to it.

  2. Add your UCAS ID and select your universities. If you do not have a UCAS ID yet, LNAT lets you enter ten zeros, but you must replace them later. Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, LSE, KCL and Durham all say you must select them in your profile, or they cannot see your result.

  3. Book a date and a test centre through LNAT's booking page, which takes you to Pearson VUE. There are over 500 test centres, 150 of them in the UK.

  4. Pay when you book, by credit card, a Visa or Mastercard debit card that needs no PIN, or an LNAT voucher or bursary code. Keep the confirmation email: you need it on the day.

You can register up to 12 noon two working days before the test you want, but do not leave it that late. LNAT expects high demand as the deadlines approach, especially at UK city-centre test centres.

The name rule matters more than it looks. If the name on your account does not match your ID exactly, LNAT says you will not be able to take your test, and the fee is not refunded.

For problems with your account or booking, contact Pearson VUE's LNAT customer service. Email LNATcustomerservice@pearson.com or call +44 (0)333 003 0764, 9am to 5pm UK time, Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays.

When should you sit the LNAT?

This section is our advice. LNAT sets the deadlines, but within them the choice of date is yours.

For Oxford and Cambridge the question is settled: the window is September to mid-October. For everyone else, there are four to five months of possible dates.

Here is how we would choose:

  1. Sit when you are ready. From 21 October, universities see each score within a day of the test, and you only get one attempt.

  2. Leave a buffer before your deadline. If you are ill the week of your test, you want room to reschedule. A date two to three weeks before the deadline gives you that.

  3. Avoid your mock exam weeks. Many schools hold Year 13 mocks in the winter term, close to the KCL, LSE, UCL, Bristol and Durham deadlines.

  4. Book early, sit later. Booking in October for a date in late November or December makes it more likely you get the slot you want, and gives you a fixed date to plan around.

Most UK applicants sit the LNAT in Year 13, in the autumn or winter of the year they apply. A test taken in Year 12, before the summer holiday, will not count.

How long to prepare is the next question. Our complete guide to the LNAT sets out a plan for the 8 to 12 weeks before your test.

How much the LNAT costs

The LNAT fee for 2027 entry is £75 at UK and EU test centres and £120 at test centres everywhere else. It is always charged in pounds.

Here's how that breaks down:

Where your test centre isFee
UK or EU£75
Rest of the world£120
With an LNAT bursary (UK and EU centres only)Free

From LNAT's payments page and Cambridge's LNAT page, checked 15 October 2026.

The fee depends on where the centre is, not on your nationality or where you live. A UK student sitting in Dubai pays £120; an international student sitting in London pays £75.

Candidates in 15 countries have to pay by voucher rather than by card:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Benin, Cameroon, Gambia, Ghana, Iran, Kenya, Lebanon, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Senegal, Tanzania and Uganda. LNAT's payments page explains how to buy one.

LNAT's payments page still heads its fees "2025-25", a typo still on the page. Cambridge's own LNAT page confirms the same £75 and £120 for this cycle.

The LNAT bursary

An LNAT bursary pays the whole fee. It is open to UK and EU candidates sitting at a UK or EU test centre, and LNAT says applicants from outside the EU are not eligible "under any circumstances".

Who qualifies for an LNAT bursary

You can apply if any one of these applies to you:

  1. You receive a 16-19 Bursary in England, or the top rate of Education Maintenance Allowance in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, or an Adult Learning Grant.

  2. You receive free school meals or Pupil Premium.

  3. You live with a family member on a qualifying benefit: Income Support, income-based Jobseeker's Allowance, Employment and Support Allowance, or Universal Credit, where the award includes an element for you. If you are not named on the letter, you also need proof that you live at the same address.

  4. Your household gets Child Tax Credit with you named on the award, and a household income below £30,000.

  5. You are an EU candidate receiving an equivalent benefit in your country.

The exact wording of each rule is on LNAT's bursaries page. Check it against your own evidence before you apply.

How to apply

  1. Apply before you book. You can create your LNAT account first, but you book the test only once the bursary arrives.

  2. Send your evidence as a scan or a clear photo with the application form. LNAT does not accept bank statements showing benefit payments.

  3. Wait for your e-voucher by email. LNAT says processing takes up to ten working days from when it receives your form, so apply at least two weeks before you want to book.

  4. Book your test and pay with the e-voucher code.

You get one bursary per cycle. If you cancel or miss a test you booked with one, LNAT will not issue a second.

Extra time and access arrangements

If you have a disability, a medical condition or a learning difficulty, you can ask for adjustments. The application form offers extra time of 25%, 50% or 100%, larger text, a reader-recorder and a separate room, and wheelchair access.

Apply through LNAT's exam access requirements page before you book, with evidence, and do not book online first. Once LNAT approves your arrangements, you phone a Pearson VUE agent who makes the booking for you.

LNAT normally matches the arrangements you already have in other public exams, and your universities are told about them. A booking made online before approval has to be cancelled and rebooked.

Timing depends on what you need:

  1. Extra time can be approved within a few days. LNAT normally gives at most 25% for dyslexia, dyspraxia and similar needs.

  2. A reader-recorder takes at least three weeks to arrange.

No adjustments can be made at the test centre on the day unless they were approved in advance, and that includes breaks. There is no paper version of the test.

Rescheduling, cancelling and refunds

You can move your test to another date or centre free of charge, through your LNAT account, as long as you do it in time.

LNAT's own pages disagree on the cut-off. Its booking page says 48 hours before the appointment; its payments page says 12 noon UK time on the second working day before it.

Work to the earlier one. For a Monday test, that means making the change by noon on the Thursday before.

Here's how that breaks down:

What happensResult
You reschedule in timeFree
You decide not to sit at allNo refund
You arrive more than 15 minutes lateTreated as a no-show. Book and pay again
You miss the testBook and pay again, within your deadline
You sit a second time without permissionThe later sitting is invalid

From LNAT's booking, payments and FAQ pages, checked 15 October 2026.

The rules are the same for illness. If you miss your test for any reason and did not reschedule in time, LNAT says you book another test at your own expense.

So if you feel unwell before the test, reschedule before the cut-off rather than sit. LNAT and Pearson VUE do not adjust results for illness on the day.

If something goes wrong during the test itself, tell the centre staff before you leave and ask for an incident number. Then contact LNAT at once with that number.

LNAT can authorise a resit in some cases. Our guide to resits and problems on the day explains how that works.

Late applications

Apart from SUSS applicants, testing after January is only for late applications, which LNAT says usually apply to international applicants.

For 2027 entry, late applicants can book until 25 July 2027 and sit until 31 July 2027. LNAT warns that universities may not accept results taken that late, so check with each one first.

Results for anyone who sits after 26 January arrive in mid-August, not February.

LNAT dates and booking FAQ

When is the LNAT for 2027 entry?

Testing runs from 1 September 2026. Oxford and Cambridge applicants sit by 15 October 2026; KCL, LSE and UCL by 31 December 2026; Bristol and Durham by 13 January 2027; other universities by 25 January 2027.

Is it too late to book the LNAT?

Not for most applicants. The main Oxford and Cambridge window has closed, but you can still book for every other UK LNAT university, Oxford's Foundation Year in Law and Cambridge's January round for mature applicants, as long as you sit by the deadline.

How much does the LNAT cost?

£75 at UK and EU test centres and £120 elsewhere. Eligible UK and EU candidates can get a bursary that covers the whole fee.

Who qualifies for an LNAT bursary?

UK and EU candidates sitting at a UK or EU centre who get a qualifying benefit, or live with a family member who does. Examples include free school meals, Pupil Premium, a 16-19 Bursary and Universal Credit with an element for you.

Apply before you book, with evidence.

Do I take the LNAT in Year 12 or Year 13?

Year 13, for most UK students: in the autumn or winter of the year you apply. A test taken before the summer holiday at the start of the cycle does not count.

Can I take the LNAT twice?

Not in the same cycle. A second sitting is automatically invalid, and results do not carry over to the next year. The only exception is a resit LNAT authorises after a problem on the day.

Can I change my LNAT date?

Yes, free of charge, through your LNAT account. LNAT's pages give two cut-offs, 48 hours before the test and 12 noon UK time two working days before it, so work to whichever comes first.

Do I need to send my LNAT score to universities?

No. Universities download it themselves, as long as your UCAS ID is correct and you have selected them in your LNAT profile.

Can I sit the LNAT at home?

No. The LNAT is only taken on screen at a Pearson VUE test centre. There is no online or paper version.

Use the weeks before your test well

Once your date is booked, the time between now and then is what moves your score.
